Chris KingPortland, Oregon · Since 1976
Chris King Precision Components was founded by Chris King in California in 1976. Frustrated by headsets that quickly loosened and rusted, the young machinist cut his own headset with sealed bearings. That headset was Chris King's first product.
Fifty years on, Chris King still makes its headsets, hubs and bottom brackets in its own factory in Portland, Oregon. Machining, bearing production, anodizing, assembly and inspection all happen under one roof. Parts you use for years, service, and move to your next bike. That is what Chris King considers a good part.

Made in Portland
Chris King parts are designed for service from the start. Bearings can be taken apart, cleaned and regreased, and wear parts are available separately. That is why Chris King headsets and hubs often outlast the frames they were fitted to. Repairing instead of replacing is the most basic way Chris King practises sustainability.
The factory recycles the aluminium chips from machining and keeps the whole production process in one place, so quality and environmental impact are managed directly. This approach, started in a small Portland factory, is now why riders and frame builders around the world choose Chris King.

Bar stock aluminium and stainless steel are machined on CNC equipment in our Portland factory.

We make the bearings that decide how long a part lasts. It is why Chris King can offer such long warranties.

Colours from our in-house anodizing line match across headsets, hubs and bottom brackets.

Every part is assembled by hand by skilled staff and inspected one by one before it ships.

Headsets
NoThreadSet · InSet · DropSet10 Year Warranty
The headset is the least visible part of a bike, yet one of the first to fail. Rain, sweat and every impact from the road go straight into it. Chris King started with exactly this problem. In-house sealed bearings, precisely machined cups and seals that keep dirt out preserve the same steering feel after tens of thousands of kilometres.
The GripLock design of the NoThreadSet centres the steerer precisely and holds it without play. Choose the InSet for tapered head tubes and the DropSet for integrated frames. Every Chris King headset comes with a 10-year warranty.

Hubs
R45 · R45D · BoostRingDrive
The heart of every Chris King hub is RingDrive. Instead of conventional pawls, two wide toothed rings engage across their full face, spreading the load evenly and transferring power the moment you push the pedal. 45 points of engagement on the R45, 72 on the Boost and Superboost mountain hubs. It is also where the famous Chris King buzz comes from.
The hubs also use in-house bearings and are designed for adjustable preload and full service. That is why many riders keep the same hubs through several wheel rebuilds.

Chris King's own drive system, with two rings engaging across a wide face. It spreads even sudden torque evenly and lasts.
Bearings made in-house with the same philosophy as our headsets. Precise tolerances and sealing keep them turning smoothly for years.
Take it apart with dedicated tools, clean it and put it back together. Adjustable preload keeps the bearings running at their best.
QR, thru-axle and Boost, with Shimano and SRAM freehub bodies. For the bike you ride now and the next one.
A light, quiet road hub. 45-point RingDrive gives engagement suited to road and gravel. The R45D is the disc brake version.
Boost-standard mountain hub. Fast engagement from a 72-point RingDrive for trail, gravel and bikepacking. Available with 6-bolt or Centerlock disc mounts.
Rear hub for Superboost frames. 72-point RingDrive and wide flange spacing build a stiff wheel for rough trail and enduro terrain.

Bottom Brackets
ThreadFit 24 · 30 · T4724mm · 30mm Spindle
The bottom bracket is where a rider's power passes first and hardest. Chris King bottom brackets use the same in-house bearings as our headsets and hubs, turning quietly here for years. Choose ThreadFit 24 or 30 for BSA threaded frames and ThreadFit T47 for T47 frames.
The bearings are designed to be opened and regreased, so a noisy bottom bracket becomes a part you service, not one you throw away. Match the colour to your headset and hubs and the whole bike comes together in one tone.

ThreadFit 24 · ThreadFit 30
ThreadFit for BSA threaded frames comes as ThreadFit 24 for 24mm-spindle Shimano cranks and ThreadFit 30 for 30mm-spindle cranks. Precisely machined cups keep the bearings in exact alignment.
Rubi Workshop will help you confirm the right model for your crank and frame.

ThreadFit T47
T47 is a threaded standard with a large-diameter shell, giving the room of a wide shell without the creaks of press-fit, and is now common on road and gravel frames. Chris King ThreadFit T47 comes in external (x), internal (i) and asymmetric (A) versions with 24mm or 30mm spindle options to suit your frame and crank.

Colors
Anodized in PortlandMatched across the range
Chris King colours are applied on the anodizing line in our Portland factory. Because they come from the same process, a headset, hubs and bottom bracket bought separately still match on the same bike. From classic silver and black to the vivid colours Chris King is known for, choosing the final detail of a custom build is part of the fun.
Colours on screen may differ from the actual anodized finish. The colour range varies by product and season, and you can see the real colours at the Rubi Workshop showroom.

Story
1976 ~ 2026California · Portland
Chris King began in 1976 with the idea of making one headset that would last, and still makes parts with the same idea. Instead of making them cheaper and faster, it has spent 50 years machining, assembling and standing behind its own parts.

Chris King, a young machinist in California, starts making his own bicycle parts.
Introduces a headset with sealed bearings. Chris King's first product, and still its signature.
The headset philosophy extends to hubs. RingDrive becomes the symbol of Chris King hubs.

Headsets, hubs and bottom brackets. Every place your bike turns can now be Chris King.
